Required to Have a Credit Card? - No, No, Yes...

Just imagine what your reaction would be if your labor contract would state that you have to have a credit card. Some people feel OK about credit cards but some don't. You have been trying to stay away from those plastics and now you are all of a sudden required to have one. What if it is a job of your dream? Is there any consensus that can be reached?

There are, certainly, a number of negative arguments towards credit cards. No wonder then that many people prefer not to apply for plastics. Still, it is a reality that there are some companies that employ only cardholders. What is strange is that this has nothing to do with employer - credit card companies' partnership.

What if your job would require you to go on business trips? Often car rentals and accommodation require credit cards for insurance and reservations. Moreover, there are some services that accept only credit cards.

Let's presume that you have already passed an interview and are offered to sign your labor contract and all of a sudden you notice this clause about having a credit card. Lots of doubts I have that you will have time to talk this very issue with your director.

You may hate the fact that you are kind of forced to be a cardholder. Sooner or later you could have faced the situation when plastic is a must. More and more credit cards are becoming a necessity. Now it is a good time to start building your credit score.

There is, actually, a consensus that can be reached. With secured credit cards one can minimize the debt risks. It is a wise thing to apply for this kind of card, so that you feel more confident when using your plastic. The main difference of these credit cards is that you have to secure your credit with a deposit. Your credit limit will also be mostly determined by this deposit. The larger your deposit is, the higher the credit limit will be. The only thing that you better remember is that "secured" doesn't mean that you can financially act unwisely and everything will be OK. Secured credit cards are not completely risk-free.

You should determine the credit limit that you will need. The maximum size of a credit line can equal the size of a deposit. Sometimes, banks and credit card companies determine credit limit as a percentage of your deposit.

Then you should check all the fees that your potential card has got. There are application and processing costs that might apply. You should study the card agreement.

Believe it or not, secured credit cards are an ideal tool to establish your credit history. With this plastic you have better chances of getting a positive credit report.

It is wise to look through a few credit card deals and select the one that matches your lifestyle best. If later you wish to convert the secured credit card to unsecured one, you'll be able to do it, certainly provided that you have proved yourself to be a trustworthy client.

Not everyone is able to afford applying for a secured credit card especially when he doesn't need it. The fact that some money should be deposited make a person think several times.
